Winter White Wreath

We're back from our holiday out west in Edmonton to visit with the kids and grandkids. What a wonderful time we had, but now I need to get back to work. :)

Winter White Wreath
How To Make A Winter Wreath

A few weeks back, I saw karianne from Thistlewood Farms post about a winter wreath she made. I absolutely loved it and had to make one for myself. Isn't it gorgeous?

My husband had a couple pieces of hosing that had holes in them from our swimming pool barracuda. He's getting really good at not throwing things out...he actually asked me if I could use it for anything! Smart man. I cut one of them to size and glued it into a wreath form. If I had been thinking properly, I would have painted the form then, but I was caught up in watching the DVD of '24'. Kiefer Sutherland is mesmerizing...

I had collected a variety of sticks off shrubs on our property and started gluing them on the 'wreath'. Making a Winter Wreath

I love how some of them still have the berries attached.

When I had enough twigs attached, I spray painted the whole thing white and sprinkled with silver glitter.

Decorate Winter Wreath
I added tiny mirror squares, small styrofoam balls, crystals, the letter 'B' and a silver & white bird, all products I had on hand.

And here it is hanging.

I love the white on the blue door. And it all started with a piece of busted hose.

Did you make anything for your door after the Christmas decorations came down? Do you hibernate for the winter season or jet away to exotic locations?

I'm sharing with:

  1. That is a great wrath. I could do with one like that to replace the Christmas one I had on the garden gate. If only we weren't in the middle of a storm I might venture out and get some twigs. A project for a nicer day.

    1. Thanks Linda. Soon you should be able to get out, the weather will be getting warmer in the next couple days. We were lucky & didn't get the freezing rain they called for...lots of snow but it's melting already. Stay safe!

It looks gorgeous - absolutely gorgeous ( I love all white decor - so this piece speaks to me - and it says you should mail it to me for my front door! )

  8. This is beautiful! I remember seeing a show where once of the islands celebrate Christmas with all white decor, and it was so pretty. I am a hibernator in winter, but always wish I could visit an island (Jamaica, or Caribbean area) at Christmas!!!

  9. You made that look so easy to make! Love the look and it's a perfect winter wreath. Do you have a hard time spray painting in the cold weather? Maybe a tip to share that would help me. Here in Oregon it seems like spray painting gets put on hold till spring and I hate that.

  14. Love the reuse of the pool hose. We have some of that lying around. My husband will laugh when I tell him what I need it for. Great looking wreath. It is lovely.

  15. Hi Debbie! Your winter white wreath is so pretty, and I love that you made it from pool hose, of all things. I'm all for recycling, and it takes a creative imagination like yours to see the potential in things. The best part is passing it on and giving people the idea that almost everything on the planet can be reused somehow. I'm also loving your blue front door. Great color! I'm curious about your swimming pool hose-eating barracuda. (?!) Glad you had a nice vacation! Laurel
