Okay, I know, it's February. But really, today is so beautiful outside with all the snow we are getting! I love it but at the same time, very glad I don't have to drive in it.
When we first got up, the snow had only been falling for an hour or so. Our neighbour across the street was out brushing the snow off the walkway...at dawn...in his shorts!! (yes, he gave me permission to post this of him. lol)
The birds are certainly enjoying their home-made suet and the recycled Christmas tree for protection from the elements. Juncos, Finch & Downy Woodpeckers are the ones that seem to enjoy them the most.
So while I was happily shooting pictures, writing this post and enjoying the oh so pretty snow falling, I get a phone call from my husband...
♬The weather outside is frightful♫
Larry had just left for his annual ice fishing weekend down on Lake Erie with his buddies. Terrible weather to be driving in and he only drove about 5 minutes away when it happened. The snow plow
Fortunately, nobody was hurt in this accident. Thank God there was no one in the back seat which is where the main damage was.
I guess I shouldn't be singing these types of songs when I see the dangerous snow falling.
But, really, when it looks like this, how can you not?
♬ Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow ♪
| There was 1/2 a foot of snow on my car when I cleaned it off! |
But, please Mother Nature, let everyone get to their destinations safe! Maybe a sleigh would be a safer mode of transportation today.
♫It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you♪
Why couldn't they leave after the storm? It was over shortly after 1:00pm...
If you are getting dumped on, please take care. I've seen 3 police cars speed by with their sirens going...a very rare occurrence around these parts.
Are you getting the snow yet?
Update: Larry told me when they got to Vanessa (about 15 minutes south-west of here) there wasn't a speck of snow and the lake area (40 minutes away) has none either. He's still trying to figure out what exactly happened...
Hopefully I have the picture issue fixed! Sorry for the problems.
Only some of your images are visible (at the time of my viewing). I was just reading on the news about the big pile up on the 401. Hope everyone is safe. There isn't a flake of snow here in my part of Ontario, in fact the sun is out, but it is very windy.
ReplyDeleteThey are showing up for me, and looks like a couple others can see them too. I'll contact you to find out what's wrong, Linda. Sorry about that! Glad you escaped the storm. And yes, that pile-up on the 401 isn't far from here, but it's not far from the Kitchener/Cambridge area that saw nothing, too! Very strange storm.
DeleteDebbie :)
It says "This person has moved or deleted the image" Photobucket.
DeleteI can only see 2 of the images.
Ok Linda, I hope I have the issues with the pictures fixed. I realized what I did and why it wasn't showing (I had moved them to a new folder! duh), so I deleted and re-loaded all of them. Strange that some could still see them. Let me know if you still can't see them.
DeleteI can see them all this morning, thanks for checking it out.
DeleteIt sure was wintry there yesterday.
The snow we didn't get yesterday is here today, and we have snow squall warnings too!
Ok, good. Thanks for letting me know so I could fix the problem. :)
DeleteLovely photos of the birdies and your property not so nice of your van ! I am glad your hubs wasn't hurt . But that sucks really what the heck was the plow guy on when passing your van crack ? Oh your hubs was coming down this way eh ? lake Erie we live near the lake well near Port Burwell that's on the lake shore lol ! We are to get snow all night and tomorrow but as of today it was sunny first sign of sun in a week but cold and windy ! Stay safe and cozy and have a good day !
ReplyDeleteThe last time it snowed here was in 1981, thank goodness because most people here, including yours truly, don't know how to drive in the snow. I do know how to enjoy beautiful pictures of it though. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTraci
Lots of people forget how to drive in the snow come our first storm up here, too, and it's only 1/2 a year or so since the last one! lol
DeleteI love it in California, but I have to admit, I'd miss the snow if I lived there. Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
Debbie :)
We've had snow since October! But winter is almost over! ha! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteI sing those songs too every time it snows. I love to watch it snow. Sorry about your husbands accident.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Sorry your husband had an accident but glad he is okay. Most of the pictures did not show up for me either. Enjoy the beauty but stay safe! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. I've fixed the problem with the pictures...I hope.
DeleteDebbie :)
Hard for me to imagine so much snow! I'm so glad that your husband wasn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteI love the little birds in the snow!
Stay safe and warm this weekend, Debbie.
Oh gosh, this really is beautiful!!! Sorry to hear about the accident...so glad everyone was OK!!! Enjoy your hot chocolate during all this frozeness! Your bird shots are awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. I have to admit, it was invigorating being out in the cold shoveling yesterday afternoon. I even shoveled a pathway out the back to the kennels and chicken coop. lol :)
DeleteO my goodness! I am so glad no one was hurt in that collision. God's protection was in full effect. And I love those bird photographs. We saw yellow finches last sumer and I was not fast enough with my camera to get the shot. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, (this comment is so choppy!) I did not know you were from Canada! We vacationed there last summer in Toronto, Ottowa, and Montreal. Totally fell in love with Ottowa andMontreal and want to go back. Next time I want to visit Quebec City. Just did not have time but I hear it is a must see. Have a great Saturday and hopefully you aren't digging out from too much snow.

Hi, I'm Debbie's daughter, Janice. Quebec City is indeed beautiful and if you loved Ottawa and Montreal you will never want to leave Quebec City, there is so much history there!! I was there in the summer of 2008 while they were celebrating their 250th (I think, it might have been 225) birthday, and the old city is just amazing. I felt like I was in Europe. One day I would like to go back in the winter, I hear it is even more magical then!!
DeleteI always hate snow or ice related accidents. There really is just no control sometimes. I laughed when I saw your neighbor. How funny that he doesn't seem to feel the cold. Your snow photos are really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know, I hate driving in weather like that. I'm just so happy no one was hurt. And our neighbour is a hoot, he always wears shorts and often sandals to walk over to our place. lol (and yes, I got their permission before posting the picture.)
DeleteThanks for stopping by. :)
Wow, so lucky for sure that no one was in that back seat! And the picture of your neighbor has me cracking up! I feel so out of touch with real winter...thanks for all of the reminders, I'm cold just looking at your pics. :)
ReplyDeleteWhile it's terrible that the accident happened, it's a real blessing no one got hurt! My husband recently backed our truck into a tree, and our two year old exclaims "owie" every time he sees it. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad no one was hurt but the car...we've got loads of snow here in Ohio. I like it except the shoveling part!
