I have met friends from online before. It's not new to me, but it is always wonderful to connect with someone you've developed a friendship with online. Especially when you have so much in common.
I met a couple of women last week who I have known through Facebook and blogging. Heather, from New House New Home New Life, lives not far from me. There are so many similarities in our lives, we hit it off right away. And spent a fantastic day together.
We made arrangements to meet at Waterford Antiques in Southwestern Ontario, an amazing two story building filled with junk, antiques and treasures.
After a couple hours browsing all the terrific shops, we left with car-loads of amazing finds.
Look at the old wooden ironing board I scooped up for a mere $12.00, and I saw others there for over $40.00!
And brass! Oh, what beautiful pieces...see the tiny mortar and pestle?
I think they'll go perfectly with the rest of my brass collection.
And this basket of pine cones was so cheap, considering what you pay for large pine cones usually.
While there, we visited Melanie's booth, The Painted Bench. She opened on March 3rd, and has already sold some large pieces! Way to go, Mel! This is Heather in Melanie's booth.
After lunch, we headed up to St. George to visit Grace at her new store, Painted Out. She's painted gorgeous pieces in Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint and Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint.
She is also a supplier of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint! Do you know how exciting it is to find a supplier so close to home?

Now, what to do with my old ironing board? I'm on the look-out for an antique iron!
Have you met any online friends in person? Where is your favourite place to thrift?
Thanks for a wonderful day, Heather!
How lovely to meet online friends and have a wonderful day of thrifting. You certainly bought some lovely treasures.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have met blogging friends at Haven, but it's so overwhelming that there's no time to "visit." I'm hoping that when I retire, I can spend a year traveling and meeting all my blogging friends in person--maybe even the ones in New Zealand!
ReplyDeleteYou look like you had an awesome day! Nice to meet new friends who love the things you do too and to go "hunting" with!
ReplyDeleteWe did have an awesome day, Pamela! Can't wait to do it again! :)
DeleteGlad you liked my Ironing board, I have others as well!! When one sell I bring the next one! Glad you like Waterford, it is a fun place. I also have a facebook account. Our booth is right across from 'The Painted Bench'. My moms booth is where the ironing board was. Thanks for posting photos. It is good to get some new people out the see all the great stuff we have!!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are very close to me! Yes, we did visit The Primitive Heart...gorgeous booth! And she is right around the corner from Grace at Painted Out, but I didn't have time to visit her store that day. We'll have to connect next time I go. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a good time ! Awesome finds and photos ! I have never been to Waterford Antique Market sounds like an awesome place, we go to one a bit closer to us in Cortland Ontario it is a huge warehouse antique shop , Cortland Antiques . Thanks for sharing with us . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteHi = You must be close to Tillsonburg or Delhi then. I have a booth at Courtland Treasures. Am heading over to your site right now!!
DeleteVery close to you, Heather!! Between you and Lake Erie! :)
DeleteVery good finds, Debbie! How fun to meet up with friends! I really love your milk glass pieces! I have always loved milk glass. I wish I could have a place for it now, but with the young grands living here, it would be impossible...maybe when I am 80! LOL. My favorite place to thrift is ANYWHERE!!!!! I adore antique shops that have the more rustic, country stuff. Down here it seems most of our antique shops have more rich, fine and fancy stuff, but that is not me at all.

Yes, it was so much fun, and the treasures we found were icing on the cake! I agree with you, I don't want fine & fancy. :)
DeleteWhat a fun day! And the bargains - cowabunga! My idea of heaven definitely involves an antique mall and mega thrift store. So glad you girls had fun. -- Jan
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, what a wonderful trip! Beautiful treasures - both friends and found items!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to go antiquing and thrifting! I like to do both. I have never met any blogging friends but how fun it must be to do so! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI love thrifting, so much more fun than a big mall. If you ever have an opportunity to meet a blogging friend, you should. We had a wonderful day. :)
DeleteWe need to get together! The next time I'm heading to Wateford, I'll let you know and we can meet up.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great day was had by all!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
